Task Force on BC timber sales – recommendations

The BC Timber Sales (BCTS) Review has been a major focus this year. Our CEO, Lennard Joe (Suxʷsxʷwels), was asked by the Province to serve on the BCTS Task Force not in his role as CEO, but as a First Nations forester with more than 30 years of experience in the sector.

Since January, the task force has gathered input from communities, Nations, licensees, and industry partners, listening to over 160 submissions and holding more than 40 meetings to ensure diverse voices help shape the path forward.

As Lenny shares:
“This work is about people, communities, and the forests that sustain us. For First Nations, the land is our home, with laws and responsibilities to uphold. The recommendations we put forward envision a new relationship between government, industry, and First Nations, grounded in collaboration, shared decision-making, and long-term stewardship. Together, we can build a forest sector that is strong, respectful, and sustainable for generations to come, while evolving to meet today’s challenges and opportunities.”
